About Us

Brambletigh is owned and run by Melanie and Rob. Back in 2009 we decided to get an allotment but were unable to source one locally. Fortunately a friend offered us a couple of acres to rent and we spent a couple of years building up our experience starting with a handful of chickens, a few piglets, some bottle fed lambs and a pair of goats.

We joined the Small Farm Training Group in 2009 and attended various training courses in lambing, pig keeping and land management.

In 2010 we purchased Nabbscott Farm,  6 acre holding just outside Hailsham, East Sussex. We have built a 40m solar barn through Lumicity and this enabled us to expand our livestock enterprise by providing winter housing and storage of feed.

We specialise in goat meat, welsh cross pork, Ixworth chickens and Norfolk black cross turkeys.

We were pleased to continue to support the Small Farm Training Group by providing courses on smallholding, goat keeping and butchery throughout 2013 – 2015

Our challenge for 2016 was to learn charcuterie and Rob spent a day at Cannon & Cannon’s Meat School in March.

Our hope was to get planning permission on the land so that we could live on site for the livestock and to build a catering kitchen and coldroom to prepare our produce, run training courses and to let out our facilities to other small producers.

Regretfully this was unsuccessful so in summer 2017 we moved to a 10 acre smallholding in North Wales.

The smallholding in Wales requires a significant amount of renovation work and we continue to restore the house and land. We still run a herd of breeding Boer cross goats, free range hens and turkeys.

We now offer a delivery service to residents of Halton, Black Park, Chirk and St Martins of our free range eggs.
