Goat meat is a widely eaten meat around the world, however it’s popularity in the UK is only now beginning to grow with many celebrity chefs introducing the meat into their recipes. Goat meat, also called Chevon or Cabrito, is lower in fat, calories and cholesterol than beef, lamb, pork or chicken.
Goat meat is similar in flavour and texture to lamb and the joints can be roasted, slow cooked or fried in just the same way. You can therefore substitute lamb with goat meat to make a healthier version of many favourite recipes.
Diced goat is ideally suited to slow cooked curries, casseroles or pies. We produce a speciality goat pie using succulent, slow cooked chunks of diced goat meat with a blend of Carribean inspired spices and marinated apricots that can be eaten cold as a picnic pie, or served hot as an evening meal. We entered our protoype pie into the Cakes v Pies at CarFest South 2012, hosted by Chris Evans and judged by Mary Berry & Paul Hollywood, and were over the moon to reach the top ten finalists. Since then, we have perfected our pies which sell very well at summer festivals.
Finally, leg and chops can also be minced to make a perfect quick Goat Herder pie in the alternative to a family Shepherds Pie.
Our goats are usually young, castrated males that are at least 50% Boer. We cross our Boers to dairy breeds which produces a good framed, fast growing meat goat. Most of the meat we sell is kid meat, being under 12 months of age.

Hello, how can I order goat meat and pick it up? When is good for you?
Do you do a half goat cut for the freezer?
Thanks!
Hi Alex
We currently have a selection of frozen goat meat (joints, diced and mince) which can be collected from East Dean Farmers Market on Wednesday 9.30am to 12.30pm or Hailsham Street Market on Saturday 9am to 3pm. If you wanted to order a half goat I could probably make this up with the frozen in stock or we would be able to arrange fresh meat through another local producer (who is a couple of miles away & outdoor rears) as we do not have any goats ready to kill out at this time. If you would like to order, please use the contact form on the website or email brambletigh@live.co.uk and we can provide an estimated price/order date for you. thank you Melanie
